WELCOME TO THE VAULT (1).png

Hello and Welcome to The Vault Event Decor. We’re Duluth’s premiere location for specialty rentals, serving the wedding and event industry. Our curated collection of rentals and our team of event professionals grew out of our parent company, Northland Special Events. In 2020, we officially branched out as an full-fleged brand and began growing our footprint - quickly growing out of our home in the Torrey Building where we had an actual vault! Today we have a beautiful warehouse and showroom in The Bagley Building - just across the street - and we love the ability to share our collection with clients in an environment that feels like home.

I am, Ellen Plumb, the Brand Manager and leader behind The Vault Event Decor. I began working for NSE in 2016 and fell in love with the wedding and event decor industry. I love collaborating with clients to unlock their wedding and event visions and bring them to life! Our curated collection of furniture, linens, centerpieces, and specialty decor evolves and changes to fit the current styles and trends, yet maintain the timeless and classic items clients know and love. Our clients include weddings, corporate events, non-profit events, community events, and so many more!

Visit us at The Bagley Building by appointment or view our entire rental collection online. Send us your wish list and schedule an appointment to start designing your event decor!

Our History

After years of wondering how The Vault came to be in downtown Duluth, we finally found the story with the help of the Duluth Public Library.

“Ultra-modern Commerce Savings Bank Formally Opens Tomorrow”

September 8, 1940

“Modernistic quarters of the Bank of Commerce and Savings occupying the entire street floor of the Torrey Building at 314-316 West Superior Street will be formally opened for business Monday morning…..Under construction since last May, the Duluth bank is considered one of the most completely equipped in the country, with the latest in fixtures, lighting and decorations.

…the vault in the rear is 12 by 12 feet and is built of reinforced concrete and steel lined floor, walls, and ceiling. The 26-ton door was on exhibit this past year (1939) at the New York fair and following it’s purchase by Mr. Markle, was shipped by freight to St. Paul and then brought to Duluth by a special truck after a 17-hour trip.”

In 2020, the icon became the namesake for our new venture - The Vault Event Decor Rental. This new brand brings our curated decor collection to clients with an easy-to-use, online gallery. Our goal is to connect clients with their event decor vision - both through our inventory and through our industry connections. If we don’t have what you need, we know who will.

Our experienced Event Consultants will work with clients to design their event decor and create wish lists from our inventory. And you can probably guess where we hold these meetings….you got it, The Vault!

In 2023, we finally decided that the space in the Torrey building that held our beloved Vault had served it’s purpose. Our owner, Mariah McKechnie, purchased the Bagley Building just across the street & we began plans to renovate & move into our new home just across the street. With this move comes exciting advantages like direct alley access, a full warehouse space, and even a new vault from the old jewelry store (albeit a smaller and less ornate one).
